------------------------------------------------- Mod Name: Archon's Horadric Mod Version: 1.13 For use with: Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction V1.10 Single/Multiplayer and OPEN battle.net ONLY (Does not work for ANY other version) Compile Date: 02/02/04 Author: Archon_Aus Email: archon_aus@hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------- Overview -------- As with just about everyone who has got their hands on the 1.10 beta patch, I was just dying to see and play with the new items and skills etc. After having a go at 1.10b legit and untwinked, I upgraded to 1.10s and *poof*, there goes all my hard earned items. Anyway, I thought it pointless to keep spending time on the beta version when the real thing will be out soon, so I made this mod to help me play with all the new goodies, and not have to worry about transferring items etc. Now for each character I can make exactly what I want, when I want it, without changing the core game. This is now the third version of this mod, and has had many updates and changes based on the requests I received from all the people who played my mod. Thanks for all the great feedback! This upgrade is for you guys!! Hope you enjoy the mod as much as I do... Features V1.0 -------------- Town Portal tomb set to 30 ID tomb set to 30 Keys set to 30 Experience multiplied by 100 (optional) Magic Vendors (Akara, Ormus etc.) sell chipped gems, El runes, jewels, Magic Vendors sell all 3 sizes of charms. El to Eld to Tir etc.) Any Charm --> Random Charm Any Jewel --> Random Jewel Jewel + ID Scroll --> Unique/Rare jewel (though this is possible through the above recipe) NOTE: All 1.10 recipes are still in effect, such as unique upgrades etc. Look them up on the Arreat Summit: http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Installation ------------ 1. VERY IMPORTANT!!! - Backup your original patch_d2.mpq file in your Diablo2 folder!!! (Rename it to something intelligent like "patch_d2_original.mpq") As with all mods, its a good idea to backup your Save folder as well, just incase one of your precious characters gets whacked. 2. Unzip the mod files into your Diablo II folder 3. Choose which version of the mod you want to use: Patch_D2_noxp.mpq - contains all the Cube recipes but retains normal xp rate. Patch_D2_100xp.mpq - contains all the Cube recipes but multiplies xp rate by 100 Patch_D2_lvl99.mpq - as above, but character becomes level 99 with a single kill (Note: the xp rate in the 100xp version does not surpass the level parameters of xp gain, so slaughtering monsters that are significantly lower level than you won't yield fast level gains - To seriously power-level, kill the council and Baal's Minions in "players 8" mode) 4. Rename the Mod file eg. "Patch_D2_100xp.mpq" to "patch_d2.mpq" 5. Start Diablo and enjoy... Feedback -------- All feedback is welcome, and I love hearing how much people enjoy the mod! Thanks to the countless people who've written to me :-) However, please read the following FAQ before you send me your email... Also, if you are interested in how I made this mod, or are having problems getting started in modding (as I did for a while), drop me an email. I'm always happy to help :-) My first response however will always be: "Have you gone through the Beginners Tutorial from the Phrozen Keep?" It is very good, and I used it to get started. In fact, the tools provided in the beginners toolkit suffice for most modding needs. Frequently Asked Questions -------------------------- Q: Can I use this mod on battle.net? A: Yes and No... You can use this mod on OPEN battle.net, but NOT ON CLOSED battle.net. OPEN battle.net is the option selected through the MULTIPLAYER button on the opening screen of Diablo2. If you're are playing on any of the realms, ie. USWEST, USEAST, EUROPE or ASIA you CANNOT USE THIS MOD... If you are still not sure what the difference is between open and closed battle.net - assume it doesn't work ;-) Q: Do you know where I could get a mod/hack/cheat for Diablo2 realms? A: No, and I do not support/condone their use. Keep battle.net free of hacks!! It's better for everyone that way :-) Q: Have you made, or considered making an Item drop mod? A: No, sorry I don’t like them. I want to keep my mod as close to the real game as possible. Q: Does your Mod work on Mac? A: As far as I know it works fine, though you cannot use the –direct –txt method on a Mac (not that you really need to as my mod is compiled already) Q: Have you added more new sets or uniques? If not, will you? A: I have not, and will not… this is not a gameplay mod, so I don’t want to deviate from the original game dynamics. If you want that kind of thing I recommend trying some of the more comprehensive mods on the Phrozen Keep. The hosted mods are usually the best. Q: Is it possible to add more than 1 socket in uniques/sets? A: As in the original game, only 1 socket is allowed in uniques and sets. I do not wish to change this for previously stated reasons. Q: Why can’t I create more than 1 unique per game? It just creates rares after the first one. A: This is due to the fact that only 1 unique can spawn per game. Blizzard did this ages ago when people were gambling for SOJs (remember those days? I have my Manald and Nagelring!!). There may be a way to change this, but do you really need to make more than 1 per game? Just make another game!! Q: Is it possible to give a character all the waypoints somehow? A: This is a bit out of the scope of my mod… I suggest you use a character editor for this. I know Jamella used to be pretty good, but there may be better options these days. Q: Is it possible to make an existing unique into an ethereal item? A: Yes, but you’ll lose whatever you have socketed in it. Basically it is re-making the item, not adding stuff to it. Q: Is it possible to downgrade an item? ie. change a "Wat Hat" into a "Cap" A: Haven't figured this one out yet. Anyone got any suggestions? For now Just join a lower difficulty game and buy one... Credits: -------- Maximum respect must go out to Jean Koh aka timeless who made the original Horadric Mod for Version 1.09b. Dude, you rock! Thanks also to Kittani for figuring out how to get the Annihilus Charm to spawn, and some other great recipe ideas. Keep an eye out for his mod, as it will have all sorts of great cube recipes! Massive thanx to Phalzyr for creating the Expanded Inventory Plug-in. Thanx also to the following people for their ideas (well, they came up with them first) Travis Fiedler – Mana to health, merchants selling class-specifics Aaron Philips - Vendors selling Rejuvs Myhrginoc & Alkalund & Jeff Bouley for running the Phrozen Keep! Flux and the www.diabloii.net staff... this is THE best site for Diablo2 And of course, the awesome dudes who made Diablo 2 - the single greatest game ever.
